Well, the kids and I had a wonderful shopping trip----one that created the memory of a lifetime! We had gone to the Belk's men's store to buy a Christmas gift for my dear father. We chose the perfect gift and then went to wait in the LONG line. I sent my ds to scope out the other registers to see if there was one with a shorter line. He came back, proud that he had found one. It was in the expensive men's suit department. The man there rang up our purchase and had to put it in a suit bag since they didn't have any other bags that would fit. As he came around the corner of the counter to hand it to me, my dd backed up to get out of the way.
She backed into a rack of suits......it was top heavy.....it fell over.....into the next rack.....it was top heavy.....it fell over....into the next rack......which was top heavy.....it fell over....into the next rack.....which was top heavy......it fell over......into the next rack..............about 10 racks in all, all fell like dominos. We thought that the ninth rack wouldn't fall----it wobbled like a bowling pin that doesn't want to fall, and then suddenly, over it went to complete the destruction falling into number 10. 40 feet of display across the entire front of the department, on the floor. Expensive suits everywhere.....on the floor. As a friend said "pride goeth before the expensive suits fall!" Poor dd stood there with her eyes the size of half dollar coins and her mouth wide open with her hand over her mouth. The rest of us just stood there with our mouths gaping wide open until the hilariousness of it all hit home. One of the men who worked there said "I knew I shouldn't have come to work today!"
Actually, I'm extremely thankful that no one was hurt.....it would have been awful if a small child had been between the racks......but thankfully, there wasn't, so we can just have a wonderful, hysterical memory.
Hope you enjoy our funny Christmas of 2008 memory!
Love,
Sharon

Preparing our Hearts for Christmas
Well, life has been rolling right along. We're starting to switch gears to prepare our hearts for Christmas.
We've been reading the book "Jotham's Journey." It's a wonderful story about a little boy named Jotham (what a shock). We're reading it every night during Advent----each night so far has ended in a cliffhanger. After the chapter there is a devotional. We're thoroughly enjoying it
I also bought a new Christmas CD the other day at the homeschool store. It's called Mountain Aires Christmas. Beautiful instrumental music. We all love it---in fact, my dd takes it to her cd player every night to go to sleep by.
Enjoy the season. Celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ! Remember, He was born to die for you----what a GIFT----who needs more?!!!

Sharon

Fireproof
Friday afternoon the kids and I went to see the movie Fireproof. I cannot say enough good things about it! I highly recommend that everyone support this movie. It would make a great "date night," and a fun "girl's night out." If you're married, make sure you see it at least once with your spouse. It will change you.... My kids even went to see it and loved it----and understood it. Of course, they've had to live the effects of what happens when things don't go the way they do in the movie.
If you look down further in my blog, you'll see a link to the movie site. You can link directly to the movie trailer. An interesting bit of trivia----in the movie there is a scene where Kirk Cameron's character kisses his wife in the movie. He has made a commitment to never kiss anyone but his wife. So, they dressed his real wife in the same clothes and filmed the scene in silhouette and so he is actually kissing his real wife not the actress. Now that's commitment to marriage the right way.
I'm going again tomorrow hopefully----I want to take my parents. I hope you all get the opportunity to see it and that you enjoy it.
Blessings,
Sharon

Happy Friday
Well, it's Friday, and we've just about finished with school for the week. We started our outside activities this week including 2 Bible Studies, Latin and Science at coop (love having those science experiments done outside of my house!!!), as well as sports, etc. (flag football and dodgeball for Adam and soccer and drawing for Abigail). They are loving homeschool this year and are making lots of new friends.
I think I've about got this blog thing down (can't believe it!!!). Just a few little small changes and I think I can live with it. Never would have thought I could do it! Goes to show---you're never too old! Thanks Tiff for all the encouragement!
Happy Birthday Grandpa Roger----we know you had a birthday this week.
Will have another update next week----week 9 of our first year of Tapestry----loving it!!! Can't wait for a break and our unit celebration!
Blessings,
Sharon
